A View from My Window

A View from My Window
To Karen: By Tommy Franks

As I stood looking out my bedroom window, contemplating my life, ISaw a mighty tall tree not far from my window pane. It stood majestic by the Side of the building…its branches reaching out in all directions…fresh rain
Resting upon them. The rain continued to fall…
And the branches continued to stretch outward. They drooped a little from the heaviness of the water,
But the tree remained standing firmly!
That’s when I thought of you, my Sweet Love! Sometimes, the world and circumstances can unexpectedly burden us withAll kinds of unforeseen things, yet like this mighty tree, We persevere! Life may appear bleak, but the tall tree stands proud…Even when stripped of its beautiful green leaves and life force.
It finds the good in the barren ground…
Knowing that nutrients will come and Rejuvenate its life.
When times appear the bleakest, good somehow prevails.
That’s when I think of you, my Sweet Love!
We appreciate what we have in the present. Sometimes, we wonder if the storm will ever end.
Then spring comes and the warm sunlight returns.
Things become green again…
And the mighty tree begins to bud with new life. We awaken to sunny days and the world now looks so different!
Storms come and go. Clouds disperse. The tree stands!
That’s when I think of you, my Sweet Love!
You are so much like this mighty tall tree.
You have withstood so many pitfalls. You are still such a delicious delight!
Fear has no hold on you!
You always keep going.
You find solace in the green Earth…
And in the people of this Earth.
You live each day as it comes…You face adversitiesKnowing that at some point the sun will shine again! Oh yeah, the wind blows,
The rain falls.
But you and the tall tree stand firm!
You both have an inner strength to get you through the day and stormy times. In our day and age, we look for heroes. I have found one…a heroine at that!
Yet, you don't fight as a military soldier in an army.
No, you (my Love) just live life to its fullest…Continuing when
Others have quit! The sweet love you give…
And the inner strength that radiates from you…Are the greatest gifts that anyone could ever give to another.
I love you for that. I thank you for that.
Just having you in my life has made me one of the richest people in all the world! So, like the mighty tree outside my window,
You continue to stand tall, proud, and fresh.
I am a better man for knowing you…having you as my beautiful wife!
